ST MARK'S MUSIC GROUP AT ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL

A Commissioning Service for Evangelists
Sunday 13th September 2009

The St Mark’s Music Group played a leading role in the service at Rochester Cathedral on Sunday 13 September 2009 for the commissioning of 6 Diocesan Evangelists and 2 Associate Evangelists as well as the licensing of the Rev Ross Garner as Mission Growth Team Leader.

The Music Group provided most of the music for the service. This included the music of gathering for about 20 minutes before the service, during the giving of communion and leading the singing by the congregation of some eleven worship songs and hymns. To round off the commissioning part of the service the singing of ‘Come on and celebrate’ could surely have been heard right across the city. The huge banners ‘dancing’ in the isles in time to the music added to the celebratory atmosphere.

During the communion Juliette Allan’s composition for the Sanctus and Acclamations were accompanied by the organ. All the members of the music group sang this time, to help the congregation with Juliette’s new arrangement, the first time at Rochester Cathedral.

The Music Group played a key role in making the service a joyful and memorable occasion for all who attended.
