SATURDAY 6TH JUNE 2009
"Impassioning and exciting Christians for Evangelism"
As part of the St Mark’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations a combined Ladies’ and Men’s breakfast was held in the Church Hall this morning. Kicking off at 8.15, the breakfast was a sumptuous feast of cereal and fruit juice, a choice of a hot English or cold continental style breakfast, fruit and preserves, tea and coffee.
The hall was packed and the breakfast was an enormous success. Our thanks go to Rose, Rosemary, Mervyn and Judy and all who prepared the food for us to enjoy.
A wonderful meal and time of fellowship was rounded off by a powerful and empowering talk on "Impassioning and exciting Christians for Evangelism" given by Des Scott, a Church Army officer. His experience and straightforward approach gave us all the opportunity to examine our own calling as evangelists – simply being the Jesus that those we meet actually get to know.
Let’s hope that we don’t have to wait for the centenary celebrations before we reprise this exciting event!
