PCC

The Parochial Church Council, along with the incumbent parish priest, oversees the day to day running of the parish and the church buildings and is answerable to the Diocese of Rochester for its efficient management.  It is also responsible for the spiritual direction of the church and the religious education of adult and child parishioners.  Members of the PCC have to be on the St Mark’s Church electoral roll and membership is for a fixed term, usually three years.

A number of working committees report into the PCC namely:

STANDING COMMITTEE

Required by law, the Standing Committee has the power to transact the business of the PCC between its meetings, subject to any directions given by the council.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Oversees the general financial dimension of the work of St Mark’s by monitoring income and expenditure, budgeting and co-ordinating the annual review of the Christian Stewardship of money through planned giving.

WORSHIP AND EDUCATION FORUMS

Attends to matters relating to ministry to the local Church, such as aspects of worship mid-week groups and the work with children and young people.

FABRIC AND HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Attends to matters relating to the stewardship of plant, such as the church buildings and fabric, the churchyard, belltower, the Vicarage and the Associate Minister's house.  They liaise with the Parish Administrator in matters relating to the administration  and management of the hall and to make recommendations for major expenditure or changes to the current procedure.

SOCIAL AND EVENTS COMMITTEE

Responsible for raising additional funds for the work of the Church through activities, social gatherings and is responsible for the management of the 100 club.
