Music is important in the life of St Mark's.  The robed SATB choir leads congregational singing and regularly contributes anthems, ranging from Stanford to spirituals, and other special music to services.  The services of Christmas, Good Friday and Easter are particularly rich in choral music.  Members of the choir feel strongly that their music is part of St Mark's ministry. The choir also provides music for most weddings at St Mark's.

Our choir is also RSCM affiliated.

Choir practice is on Friday evenings.  New members are always welcome.  At present we would like another bass!

St Mark’s Church is blessed with a wide range of musical talent from singers in the choir to individuals with particular instrumental skills.  We do have a resident music group who play for the first Sunday in the month services, for the REFRESH! services and who lead the pre Family Eucharist worship time.  We operate a rota system to enable different combinations to support different styles of service.

We are always looking out for new members who wish to join us.  We particularly need a drummer and anyone wishing to do the sound engineering duties.  All training on our sound system will be given.

Current music group members are:

The handbell ringers practice weekly on a Thursday evening from 7.15pm. They have played a number of times during communion on Sunday mornings and also use their own arrangements of worship songs and Christmas carols! They are a small enthusiastic group but would welcome new members, no musical expertise is required.
