The Bishop of Rochester is pleased to inform the parish of St. Mark's, Biggin Hill that he is to appoint The Revd Jeanette McLaren to be their next parish priest.
Jeanette is married to Chris, who is Chaplain at Greenwich University (Avery Hill site). She was ordained in 1995 and served her title at East Dulwich. She was appointed Priest-in-Charge of St. Paul's with St. Saviour, Brixton in the Diocese of Southwark in 1999. She has been involved in a major Youth Programme on one of the more challenging housing estates in the area, and so comes with some real enthusiasm for working with young people.
She is about to complete her MA in English Literature and so this is a timely move for her, both in terms of ministry and academic study.
When not involved in ministry, she and Chris own a narrow boat, which is linked to her passion for tall ships and has recently been involved with the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
She is looking forward very much to being part of the community at Biggin Hill, and knows of one or two watering holes from earlier days as a youngster visiting the area.
Please pray for her as she prepares to leave Brixton and begin a new life and ministry among the community at Biggin Hill.
