Relaunch of Explore
“ Come have breakfast with us, then come ‘Explore’ with us.
For some years now St. Mark’s has had an informal ‘cafe style’ church for those who may want to explore the Christian faith. ( Hence the title ‘Explore.’) Because of its informal style with its child friendly ethos, contemporary, setting over the years it proved popular with young families and those bringing their children to be baptised.
Recently it began to seem appropriate to make the exciting move to bring this service, back into the main church. The style of the service will be informal, with contemporary Christian music, teaching and activities suitable for children and adults. The aim is, that each month it will be have a different theme, sometimes incorporating Drama, mime, games, and artwork, much like the Holiday club service that already happens at St. Mark’s in the Summer, that so many in our community already come to, but there will be teaching that is appropriate for both young and more mature people.
So what is it we will be exploring, the most exciting possibility, that churches offer the communities they serve, a possibility of encountering God. A God who loves each one of us, a God who was the creator of fun and laughter, and that’s what this service will be about fun, laughter, but also an opportunity to ‘Explore’ together in fellowship aspects of the Christian faith. Explorers are people on a journey, searchers, people on a quest, a most exciting quest........a quest we are all on together, whether we are new to the faith......just starting out......have big questions about life, faith and the Universe......... and like any journey, we need people who are familiar with the route, who are used to the challenges......so those who see this notice and think, ‘ Fun, laughter.......that’s sounds like a service for kids.’ Think again...........one can be ninety and a child at heart.
Church should be a place where we engage with mystery of God, a place of spiritual magic, and enchantment.........and re-enchantment. I hope that in these Explore services will all be enchanted, and re-enchanted with our God.
Explore is re-launched on Sunday 7th February, breakfast will be available from 10.00 and worship begins at 10.30.

EXPLORE WILL TAKE PLACE THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH.
